Objective

The student understands cause-effect relationships and mathematical formulas for describing them. S/He acquires sufficient knowledge for utilizing PID controllers and for analyzing the control loop.

Content

Several exercises for the analysis and design of control loops with the aid of computer simulations and pilot processes and their instrumentations. The subjects include, for example, controller tuning and performance analysis, frequency domain analysis of the control loop, linearization of the actuators, digital signal processing in control engineering, cascade control and its design, construction of simulation models and the use of simulation models in design and control.
