Objective
After completing the course, the student is able to understand the main principles of information technology, including the basic concepts of computer science. The student is able to fluently use personal computers in university studies, and masters the main PC application software. The student is capable of working in complex network environments, and understands information security requirements. The student has basic knowledge of publishing in networks. The student has the ability to apply knowledge and strategies to enhance information technology-related skills.
Content
ICT hardware and local area network in the study environment.
Basic concepts of information technology and computer science.
Introduction to main PC applications: word processing and document, standards, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics.
Internet as information source and communication medium (digital portfolio).

The student is able to use fluently personal computers in university studies, and understands information security requirements.
The student masters communication in the net.
The student is able to create documents that follow common standards.
The student masters the main PC application software in ordinary tasks.
The student can create a small website using a markup language.

Additionally:
The student knows the basic concepts and measurement units of computer science and computer technology.
The student has an ability to apply knowledge and strategies to process information and data, and to present it in different formats.
The student is able to enhance information technology related skills, especially learning to use end-user software.

The student works effortlessly in complex network environments, and masters application software.
