Objective

The student knows the characteristics of spreadsheet and database applications at a level that enables him/her efficiently utilize them in studies and engineer's work.

The student is capable of using advanced spreadsheet functions and utilize a spreadsheet application also in the laborations of other disciplines. The student is capable of using a database application as well as designing small databases independently.

Content

Spreadsheet: lookup functions, lists and filtering, conditional functions, pivot tables, graphs, goal seek, optimization, manipulation of statistical data, error estimation, regression analysis, macros, and VBA.

Databases: basics of relational databases, tables, primary and foreign keys, integrity constraints, connections between tables, queries (search, append, delete, and update), forms, and reports.
