Objective

Basic knowledge of materials and the theoretical backround of metallurgy. Principles of materials testing methods. Properties of technical materials (steels) and the theoretical background. Atomic structure and the effect of microstructure on mechanical propeties. Principles of heat treating of steels.

Content

Laboratory excercises: tensile, hardness and jominy tests. Metallography.
