- 3 ECTS
Objective
Student knows the basic laws of rotation and can apply those laws in essential systems of his own tehcnical field. Student is familiar with the behaviour of solids under external stress, and knows basic laws of fluid mechanics. He or she can apply this knowledge in designing and constructing of machines and structures. Student knows the basic laws of thermal physics and understands their restrictions and importance in nature and engineering.
Content
Kinematics and dynamics of rotational motion. Elastic properties of materials. Static fluid mechanics. Fluid dynamics: basic consepts, Bernoulli’s law, resistance forces in gases and liquids. Temperature, measurement of temperature and thermal expansion. Thermal energy, phase changes, ideal-gas law, heat transfer.
-----
Calculation of moment of inertia by integration. Surface tension, capillarity and viscosity. Bernoulli’s law in general form. Phase diagrams, humidity of air, gas mixtures.
