Objective

- The student acknowledges research and development as part of decision making process and part of professional ability.
- The student learns to appreciate an inquisitive and ethical attitude.
- The student learns some basic terminology and understands the basic principles of research methods.
- The student is able to use the terminology and rationalize his or her choice of a particular research method on a particular problem.
- The student realizes the role of a theoretical framework in applied research and development.
- The student learns the requirements placed on the language and writing style in research and development reports.
- The student develops abilities needed in realizing the Bachelor’s thesis.

Content

Research with the aim to create new knowledge.
Bachelor´s thesis in a University of Applied Sciences.
The central tools and strategies related to research and development work.

To acquire knowledge, to process and handle knowledge, to identity research- and development related tools and strategies, options and possibilities related to the Bachelor´s thesis.

The research problem and research questions related to the Bachelor´s thesis. The purpose of a research plan. A theoretical framework and its relevance.

What is data and how can data be collected and analysed.. The research path and arguments to support it. To view writing and the thesis as a process.
To acknowlege the challenges related to context and ethics, writing, analysis and reporting.

Qualifications

Two years of studies on Bachelor´s degree.
The course LB3001 is strongly linked to the Bachelor´s thesis.
