Objective

The students will gain the basic knowledge of renovation as well as how to maintain, mend, and complement existing surroundings from different architectural periods. The students will be able to record building heritage by measured drawings and photographs. The students will be familiar with the methods of repairing old frameworks either for conservation or renewal purposes. The student will know the special features of applying building codes for renovation. The student will be able to plan the interior of a small-scale renovation target taking into account the architectural requirements.

• Exploring the target of the building project
• Recording the building heritage by measuring, drawing and photographing
• Characteristics of a built environment from both technical and aesthetic viewpoints
• Building methods, materials, building accessories, space arrangements of buildings
• Building methods and constructions through different time periods
• Old utensils and how to replace them
• Principles of building a condition survey
• How to apply building codes when repairing a building
• Special architectural requirements
