Mallet Instruments, Course B (Period B1)Laajuus (9 ECTS)

Objective

Students have a command of the technique and artistic view required by the demanding repertoire and gain familiarity with the technical and stylistic possibilities of their instrument in different ensembles. Students learn to express themselves in an individual style while realizing the demands of good taste both as an accompanist and a soloist, adopt a clear understanding of the work of a professional musician and gain the facilities for independently developing their skills and for more advanced studies.

Content

- Examination of the technical and interpretive issues of mallet and percussion playing
- Exercises in music reading, sight-reading, improvisation and the application of theory
- Exercises in adoption and interpretation skills, as well as other practical exercises
- Preparation of a varied B-level exam repertoire relevant to the instrument
