Voice, Course B (Period B1)Laajuus (9 ECTS)

Objective

Students are objectively able to express their personality and individuality through music. Students have a command of the vocal technique, idiomatic phrasing, improvisation and interpretation required for professional musicians. Students are able to perform in various languages. Students can creatively apply the skills they have learned in both solo and ensemble performances. Students are able to produce material such as arrangements, transcriptions and compositions. Students are able to plan, prepare, produce and market a concert. Furthermore students gain facilities for independently improving their skills for more advanced studies.

Content

- Exercises and analysis that deepen vocal technique, interpretation, improvisation and performance skills
- Analysis, planning and rehearsing of musical performances of different styles and in different languages
- sight-reading exercises
- preparing an advanced repertoire

Technical part

Artistic part
6. Students prepare and perform an approximately one hour long concert. All pieces are performed without sheet music.

General instructions
Technical part is accompanied by a pianist or cd. Technical part has to be passed before the artistic part. Technical assignments 3, 4 and 5 are given prior to the examination.

Evaluation
An evaluation discussion will be held after both technical and artistic part by the student, teacher and members of the college. Evaluation criteria of the artistic part is 0-5.
