Wind Instruments, Course C (Soprano Saxophone Period C1)Laajuus (6 ECTS)

Objective

Students play their instrument in a controlled manner and with good intonation, showing creativity and interpretive ability in accordance with the requirements of the course. Furthermore, the course trains the student for improvisation, music reading, soloist and accompaniment tasks, and a command of styles, as well as preparing students for professional work as a musician and performer. Students also become qualified for more advanced studies.

Content

The course includes examination of the technical and interpretative issues of wind instruments, scale exercises, improvisational technique, music reading, sight-reading and transposition exercises, as well as other practical exercises. Students prepare a stylistically varying repertoire of 40 - 60 pieces.
