Voice, Course C (Period C1)Laajuus (6 ECTS)

Objective

Students are able to express their personality and individuality through music. Students have a command of the vocal technique required for the repertoire, know idiomatic phrasing, are able to handle rhythm in a controlled manner and improvise. Students are able to function as a soloist, back-up singer and ensemble vocalist in different sized groups of varying musical styles. Students are able to perform in an appropriate manner. Students are able to sing in different languages. Students are able to prepare and interprete a comprehensive repertoire. Students are able to produce material such as arrangements, transcriptions and compositions. Furthermore, students can independently lead an accompanying band and gain facilities for B-level studies.

Content

- Examination of the technical and interpretive issues of singing
- Exercises in improvisation and performance
- Analysis, planning and rehearsing of musical performances of different styles in different languages
-sight-reading exercises
- preparing a comprehensive repertoire

Qualifications

Opetukseen osallistuminen sekä C-kurssitutkinnon suorittaminen.

Technical part

Artistic part
7. Students perform 8 pieces from their repertoire, at least one of each category. All pieces are performed without sheet music.

General instructions
Technical part is accompanied by a pianist or cd. Technical part has to be passed before the artistic part. The artistic part is a concert and all material performed must not be included in students earlier courses. The artistic part must be accompanied by at least a trio.

Evaluation
An evaluation discussion will be held after both technical and artistic part by the student, teacher and members of the college.
