Objective
The student has a command of more demanding tonal phenomena and melodies based on different modes and is able to identify polyphony in 2-3 voices.
Content
- C (alto) clef
- More demanding melodies in major, minor and blues tonalities
- Modal melodies
- Bitonal phenomena in melody lines
- Deviations from the key and modulations also in symmetrical relationships
- 3-voice dictations
- Tonal and common modal (e.g. hybrid) chord voicings
- Tonal, modal and mediant chord progressions
- Harmony, melody and improvisition exercises over "music minus one" recordings
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student:
• has participated in lessons as agreed
• has carried out the agreed tasks
• is able to work independently
• can sing and write demanding major, minor and blues melodies including temporary modulations in the treble, bass and alto clefs
• can sing and write modal melodies and chord progressions
• can write challenging chord progressions with various voicings e.g. hybrid chords
• can write three part melody dictations
• has completed the oral and written exam satisfactorily

Qualifications: Student is able to sing and write more demanding tonal melodies and melodies based on different modes and also he/she is able to write 2-3 voice dictations.
