Objective

The student gets familiar with PA system of a concert hall in the way that he/she has the practical readiness to work as the designer of use and user in concert situations. Furthermore the student gets familiar with the lightning system and the designing of the basic lightning and its execution.

Content

Function of a PA system of a concert hall. Mixing console, loudspeaker systems and monitors. Microphone techniques in sound reinforcement situations. Operational principles of the lightning system in a concert hall. Concert hall acoustics and sound reinforcement.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student:
• has participated in class
• is familiar with the amplification of sound, concert hall acoustics and the management of concert hall sound systems
• has completed the agreed exercises

Assessment criteria, good (3)

In addition, the student:
• understands the operating principles of concert hall sound systems
• understands the operating principles of concert hall lighting equipment, and is familiar with mixing consoles, speaker systems, and monitoring
• understands microphone techniques in various sound reinforcement situations

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition, the student:
• can manage a concert hall sound reinforcement system and has the practical ability to use audio equipment as a sound designer in concert situations
• is familiar with concert hall lighting systems, as well as basic lighting design and implementation

• has participated in class
