Dramaturgical Processes 1Laajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

The student learns to see a performance as a structure. He/she understands how the different elements of a performance influence the structure and is aware of the effects of different spatial solutions. The student also learns to use light, sound, and stagecraft in various forms of applied drama and concerts.

Content

The category of study covers the fundamentals of dramaturgy, their effect on setting up a performance, new dramaturgical models, and new forms of performance. The students get acquainted with setting up performances with different spatial solutions and auditoriums. A wide conception of performing is discussed as well as the requirements of interactive performances, community theatre, museum drama, and mobile performances. Experiments related to these themes are made. The category of study includes theoretical lectures, exercises, and visits by experts. Practical assignments can be carried out in cooperation with the specialisation option of Theatre and Drama.
