Objective

Students understand the significance of client/patient-orientedness to nursing. They master the evidence-based nursing process. Students are able to identify and evaluate care needs and health changes of medical patients. They can plan, implement and evaluate nursing of patients with internal diseases. Students understand the significance of the participation of patients and their significant others to the decision-making process concerning the care. They can support patients and provide education to increase their commitment to care. Students are able to implement medication of patients suffering from internal diseases. Students promote health safely respecting the patient. Students search for and utilise research knowledge and good nursing practices in medical nursing. Students comprehend the significance of their role in the multiprofessional work group.

Content

Understanding experiences related to the patient’s illness by using experience trainers
Identifying health changes of patients suffering from internal diseases, determining need for care, planning, implementation, evaluation and follow-up of care
Drawing up a care plan
Medication
Nursing of patients with cardiovascular diseases
Nursing of patients with neurological diseases
Nursing of patients with pulmonary diseases
Nursing of patients with diabetes
Nursing of patients with oncological diseases
Nursing of patients with infections
Early detection of critically ill patients
Resuscitation

Students can describe the fundamental care needs and health changes of patients suffering from internal diseases and nursing practices throughout the care process as well as understand the importance of prevention and patient education in nursing.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students know the fundamental care needs and health changes of patients suffering from internal diseases and nursing practices throughout the care process as well as apply different methods of prevention and patient education to nursing.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students combine and analyse the fundamental care needs and health changes of patients suffering from internal diseases as well as nursing practices throughout the care process.
Students can evaluate the use of different methods of prevention and patient education in nursing critically.
