RadiotherapyLaajuus (6 ECTS)

Objective

The student will learn about radiotherapy principles, safe use of radiotherapy equipment, and quality assurance. The student will understand the radiotherapy process as a part of the treatment of a cancer patient. The student will be able to understand the radiotherapy dose plan, gain a basic understanding of the simulator and patient setup in teletherapy. The student will be able to support the patient and to take into account changes in the patient's condition.

Content

Radiotherapy principles, equipment, basis for treatment decision, positioning the patient and repeating the treatment, dose planning, simulator, carrying out external radiotherapy, care for cancer patient receiving radiotherapy, radiation protection and safety issues, quality assurance, multidisciplinary co-operation.
