Objective

Students understand the formation, tasks, mobility, functions and coagulation system of blood cells, know how to perform key haematology tests, command the pre-analytical requirements of tests, know how to assess the reliability of results and the testing process and understand the clinical significance of the results. Students are capable of controlling quality in their actions.

Content

Clinical haematology samples, quality of tests and their grading to appropriate levels of the health care system
The concept of blood count
Development of blood cells; analysis of cell quantity and quality using different automated and manual techniques
The coagulation system and key tests
Assessment and clinical significance of test results and the testing process
Pathological changes in blood cells and in the coagulation system
Bone marrow aspirate
Operational maintenance of haematology equipment.
