Objective

Students understand the key concepts, phenomena and laws of chemistry. Students know how to perform general chemistry-related calculations. Students command the chemical elements and compounds relevant to professional proficiency. Students familiarise themselves with the systematics and structures of organic compounds. Students become capable of understanding biosciences and chemical applications used in their own professional field.

Content

Classification of substances, naming of compounds, formation of bonds, polarity, compounds, chemical reactions and equilibrium, oxidisation and reduction, acids and bases, buffer solutions. Mass, content and pH calculations. Hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon derivates and their structural formulae, chemical reactions of functional groups, isomers and the significance of isomerism.
