Objective

Students understand the central concepts, different means and methods of patient education. They can apply evidence-based patient education methods to their work with patients in different age groups and their significant others. Students evaluate and document the successfulness and effectiveness of patient education. They evaluate their patient education competence as part of the development of their expertise.

Students understand and can justify the key concepts of patient education.
Students master the empowering patient education process in nursing of patients of all ages and their significant others.
Students can plan, implement and evaluate the patient education of patients of different ages and their significant others by using various methods.
Students are familiar with the client-oriented individual and group education process and can evaluate it critically.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students understand the key concepts of patient education and apply them based on evidence.
Students can apply the empowering patient education process to nursing of patients of different ages and their significant others as well as evaluate their own actions.
Students master the patient education process of patients of different ages and their significant others and develop it based on evidence.
