Objective

On completion of the course the student will understand the laws, regulations and guidelines governing a construction project, and will know the importance of planning in terms of environmental development and protection.

Content

The main contents of the Land Use and Building Act and Decree and sections A1, A2, F1, G1, E1, C1, C2, C3 of The National Building Code of Finland. The City of Helsinki building inspection and building code, guidelines of method of construction.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student
- is familiar with the laws and regulations governing construction projects
- is able to use the databases of municipal building inspection

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student
- is familiar with the laws and regulations governing construction projects
- is able to apply the municipal data management and permission processes

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
- is able to describe the laws and regulations governing construction projects
- is familiar with the operation and data management of the municipal building inspection, as well as good building practices in working life
