General information

15 ECTS

Objective

The student is trained to use English as the work and study language and is used to work in a multi-cultural group. The student chooses and evaluates the study offering of the destination country as part of his or her curriculum and prepares a motivation letter. The student shows own initiative to take care of part of the practical arrangements relating to the exchange. The student develops new potential for working in international contexts.

Content

International exchange with a minimum duration of 3 months, corresponding to 15 ECTS. The exchange can be also one semester, corresponding to 30 ECTS, as agreed.

Most Japanese partners do not offer courses in English, but they can accept students with the skill level of 3rd or 4th year to work on own development projects in their laboratories. Students work in small teams or individually, guided weekly by the professor. This provides an excellent opportunity to learn both independent and team-based research work.

Project Placement can replace Practical Training 1, 2, Innovation Project, or individual courses in the personal study plan, depending on its substance content.

Further information

The Degree programme accepts the exchanges, considering their relevance as part of the curriculum. The pre-requisite to international exchanges is that the studies have proceeded in normal time, and in case of many competing applicants, good grades and the motivation letter.

There are several partner universities to select from, check details when applying. The academic year in Japan is different than the European, to be noted when planning the exchange.
