Objective
The student knows the concepts used by different organizations in defining the field of health informatics. The student recognizes health informatics as a field of study and as different actions. The student views health informatics from the user and societal perspectives, and recognizes his or her own role as an actor in this field. The student knows and understands the main methods, applications and systems of health informatics.

Definitions and concepts of health informatics.
Development of health informatics on the boundary of healthcare and social services.
Human being, client, the ethical concept of a human being in health informatics.
The main methods, applications and systems of health informatics.
Health informatics in Finland and internationally.

Students use the appropriate core concepts as well as make choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They recognize the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.
