Objective

On completion of the course the student will understand the major rules governing scaled representation of an object and be familiar with computer applications used for modelling. The student will be able to utilize and create CAD models produced by other parties of a particular planning process.

The student will be able to draw up planes and cross sections according to instructions with the help of models and examples. The student will also be able to turn the CAD model into appropriate manufacturing documents.

Content

Drawing up scaled representations such as planar and cross section drawings on major design software. The rules, instructions and major standards for drawing up CAD documents for building services engineering. Creating 2D and 3D models using a common CAD application.

Understanding the role of CAD documents in the design process of a product. Utilizing computers for creating drawings and diagrams. Using information stored as CAD files for models. Determining print layouts. Creating various printouts.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to control application setup in a particular model, create a CAD model with given geometry, add measurement data and textual data to a model, set up a project related to a certain application, create scale based print layouts from models, complete assignments satisfactorily.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to control application setup in a particular model, create a CAD model with given geometry and use modeling techniques proficiently, control measurement styles and add measurement data and textual data to a model, create scale based print layouts from models, set up a project related to a certain application, create an information model based design model, complete assignments satisfactorily and on time.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to control application setup in a particular model, apply software settings and properties to proficiently and accurately model geometry, control and use measurement styles, create scale based print layouts from models, set up a project related to a certain application, create an information model based design and create print layouts and print them, control print styles and ways of printing, complete assignments excellently and on time.
