Machinery and Energy EngineeringLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

The student will be familiar with the structure of the most important machinery in building services engineering and understand the fundaments of their operation and controls, and be able to solve the mathematical problems related to them. The student will be able to select the most economic type of device which is the most suitable one for the purpose, and dimension it on the basis of the performance characteristics. The student will understand the concept of efficiency and be able to use it when comparing the profitableness and economic efficiency of various devices. Moreover, the student will be familiar with the fundamentals of water vapour and be able to implement them together with a state of matter diagram. Mollier diagram in simple calculations.

Parameters when selecting building services equipment, annual efficiency and efficiency of a device. Pumps, fans, air compressors and systems. Boilers, fuels and combustion.
