Objective

Objectives: On completion of the course the student will be familiar with the principles and structural demands of generic cabling.
The student will be able to draw up the documents necessary for calculating a bid for a generic cabling system.

Content

- Standards for generic cabling
– Balanced pair cables and optical fibre cables
– Distributors and cable terminal boxes
– Capacity of general cabling
– Design and documentation
- Active network equipment
– Local Area Network (LAN)
– Measuring instruments.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to create the contract calculation documents of a generic cabling system, and is able to repeat the tasks learned during the course. The student completes assignments satisfactorily.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in new similar tasks. He or she completes assignments as required and on time.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the requirements above, the student is able to suggest improvements to given tasks and to give reasons for his or her choices. The assignments are completed independently and in a professional manner.
