Objective
The course improves general abilities to study physics and engineering. The aim is that the students with different educational backgrounds in physics gain sufficient knowledge and skills necessary for studying engineering and applied physics.
This course yields understanding and mastering of SI units; the student knows how to derive quantities and units essential in the field of chemical engineering. Problem solving strategies for basic problems encountered in physics in the field of chemical engineering are essential learning outcomes of this course.
Content
The course covers SI units and quantities essential in the field of chemical engineering; basics of trigonometric relationships, vectors in physics, problem solving in physics, graphical presentation and significant figures. During classes, problems in the fields of physics needed in chemical engineering are worked out.
