Objective

The course will introduce students to alternative and renewable energy sources and technologies. Students will get to know to sun energy, wind energy, hydroelectric power, fuel cells and biomass. Students will also get familiar how these are used for electricity or combined heat and power production.

3. Wave energy
4. Hydroelectric power plants and water turbines
5. Wind power and wind turbines
6. Biomass and bioenergy
7. The use of alternative and renewable energy source and their importance for energy production in the near future
8. Wind power concepts and farms

The student knows the basic concepts of alternative and renewable energy sources

The student knows the equations used to calculate alternative and renewable energy sources

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student understands the importance of alternative and renewable energy sources, and knows which part they play in all energy sources
