Objective

The student knows how to use and program a programmable logic controller. He/she can design simple control systems and connect sensors and actuators to plc. IEC 61131-3 Programming Methodology' is of valuable use for Industrial Automation Software Engineers and Programmers since it describes the structure and role of each of the five programming languages defined by the IEC 61131-3 Standard. PLC programming using IEC 61131 standard and practising sensor and actuator wiring. A laboratory exercises is included in the course. The student the knows ideas of the upcoming IEC61499 standard for component based distributed measurement and control systems.
