Objective

The student is aware of the application area of hydraulic transmission. He/she will recognize the usual hydraulic components from the hydraulic scheme and knows how they work. He/she is able to design trivial hydraulic systems and choose the needed components. He/she will be acquainted with the maintenance of the systems.

Content

1. Hydraulic transmission and its benefits and disad-vantages
2. Basic laws of hydrostatics and hydrodynamics
3. Hydraulic components and their operation principles
4. Design of hydraulic systems
5. Maintenance and service of hydraulic systems

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1. The student is aware of advantages and disadvantages of hydraulic transmissions
2. The student knows the basic quantities and their units
3. The student recognizes the usual hydraulic components from the hydraulic scheme
4. The student can perceive hydraulic scheme according the needs
5. The student knows the mandatory requirements maintenance and service of hydraulic systems

Assessment criteria, good (3)

1. The student is able to evaluate the suitability of hydraulic transmission in a certain application
2. The student is able to make calculations with pressure and volume flow
3. The student can recognize the usual hydraulic components used in the hydraulic schemes and knows also how they work
4. The student is able to dimension the actuators according the given requirements
5. The student knows the usual service and maintenance targets

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

1. The student is able to evaluate different power transmission systems with each other
2. The student understands the dependence of pressure and volume flow and is able to utilize calculations with them
3. The student is able to understand the function of hydraulic system and components according the hydraulic scheme
4. The student can dimension the actuators of hydraulic system and draw the hydraulic scheme according to the requirements
5. The student knows the location of the service points and understands the need for regular service and maintenance.
