3D-CAELaajuus (3 ECTS)

Course unit code: TM00AD82

General information

Credits
3 ECTS

Objective

The course is a direct continuation to 3D-modelling class. It involves such themes as logic in modeling, 2D-drawings, assemblies, kinematic analyses and space analyses of various design and assemblies.

Content

The class contains following modules in CATIA: Assembly Design, Digital Mock-up (Kinematics & Space Analysis), Drafting and the basics of Sheetmetal Design.
Each student does an exercise of each theme.
An individual design project is included in the class, too.

Qualifications

3D-Modelling

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student can create an assembly with 3D-tools and constrains. He/she can create an exploded view and construct a technical 2D-drawing of chosen components.

The student can utilize 75% of the CATIA’s Assembly Design module and create a 75% correct technical drawing of the chosen component.

The student knows CATIA’s Digital Mock-Up’s Kinematics and Space Analysis modules and can utilize basics of the Sheetmetal Design module.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student can create a complete 3D-assembly with proper tools and constrains. He/she can create an assembly drawing, bill of material (BoM) and exploded view. He/she can construct a technical 2D-drawings of the chosen components.

The student can utilize 80% of the CATIA’s Assembly Design module and create a complete BoM and assembly drawing including correct contents in it. He/she can create a 80%-proper technical drawing of the chosen component.

The student can use CATIA’s Digital Mock-Up’s Kinematics and Space Analysis modules and can create simple sheet metal designs by using the Sheetmetal Design module.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can create a complete 3D-assembly with proper tools and constrains. He/she can create an assembly drawing, bill of material (BoM) and exploded view. He/she can construct technical 2D-drawings of the chosen components.

The student can utilize 90% of the CATIA’s Assembly Design module and create a complete BoM and assembly drawing including correct contents in it. He/she can create a 100% proper technical drawing of the chosen component.

The student can use fluently CATIA’s Digital Mock-Up’s Kinematics and Space Analysis modules and can do kinematic and space analyses of various designs.

The student can create more demanding sheet metal designs by using the Sheetmetal Design module.

The student knows the possibilities in Surface Design module that can be utilized e.g. in creating double-curved contours.
