- 3 ECTS
Objective
A student can do physical measurements and apply modern measuring devices in different applications. She or he can analyze the results and their accuracy and reliability and write technical reports.
Content
1. Basics of experimental work in physics and performing physical measurements.
2. Introducing the essential methods for evaluating and calculating the results (graphical methods, curve fitting methods, EXCEL applications).
3. Estimation of the accuracy of the measurements and assessment of the results.
4. Writing work reports.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
1. The student knows the principles of working safely and can perform simple measurements according to instructions.
2. The student can make simple graphical presentations and determine the slope of the linear regression curve with EXCEL.
3. The student knows the essential methods for estimating the accuracy of the results and is able to use them to evaluate the quality of the results according to instructions.
4. The student can write short technical reports
Assessment criteria, good (3)
1. The student can choose proper measuring devices and is able to work as part of the group.
2. The student is able to process data by both graphical and calculating methods applying EXCEL.
3. The student can use different methods for estimating the accuracy of the results.
4. The student can write logical reports of good quality.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
1. The student works independently and is able to apply and develop the measuring methods used.
2. The student can use a wide range of methods of EXCEL in data processing. She or he can draw independent and critical conclusions of the results and methods used.
3. The student can independently apply different estimation methods for the accuracy of the results.
4. The student can write reports where both content and appearance are consistent and logical.
