Objective

The student understands vibration phenomena, can analyse the vibration level, can analyse vibrations with the finite element method, and knows methods to control vibrations.

2. Forced vibration, resonance
3. Isolation
4. Support excitation
5. Vibration control
6. Vibration analyses using the finite element method.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1. The student understands vibration phenomena, factors affecting the vibration level, and is able to calculate basic cases.
2. The student can use FEM programs for Eigenshape analysis

Assessment criteria, good (3)

1. The student understands vibration phenomena and can control the vibration level.
2. The student can use FEM program to do specific form analyses, transient analysis and frequency response.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

1. The student understands vibration phenomena and can apply methods of vibration control.
2. The student can analyse vibrations with the finite element method, analyse results, and assess validity and reliability of results.
