Course unit code: TM00AD26
General information
- Credits
- 3 ECTS
Objective
The student is able to use 3D modeling and simulation as a part of the product development process. The student is able to use simulation models for developing and testing the steering and control algorithms
Content
1. Simulation possibilities in usual 3D CAD systems
2. Principles of building the mechanical simulation model and the verification of the model
3. Different simulation cases including model building and steering and control applications
Qualifications
none
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
1. The student is able to do 3D models and use them in fitting and kinematic simulations in Catia environment
2. The student knows the degree of freedoms of single part and is able to use joints for connecting parts taking care of DOF:s connect parts together using joints
3. The student is able to build simple model according to the given demands
Assessment criteria, good (3)
1. The student is aware of limitations of usual 3D modeling environments (Catia). He/she is able to benefit his/her #D model in another environment (Adams)
2. The student is able to build a practical model and test the model according to the requirements
3. The student is able to specify the needs for a certain model. He/she is also able to build and test the model.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
1. The student is able to transfer the usual 3D CAD models to the real simulation environment
2. The student is able to specify the model and add the forces, actuators and sensors to the model
3. The student can independently build the simulation model, verify the model and benefits the results in product development
