Objective

Understands the distinctions between different welding methods from the viewpoint of manufacturing. Will be familiar with the welding practices of the common welding methods. Will be familiar with the most important cutting methods.

Content

Introduction to common welding processes, weldability of metals and their use. Commonly used cutting methods. Terminology of the common welding methods.
Practical welding exercises: MIG/MAG, TIG, MMA and spot welding.

Qualifications

Manufacturing Engineering 1 and 2, Engineering Materials 1 and 2.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Knows the commonly used welding methods.
Has participated in welding excercises.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Knows the commonly used welding methods and their use.
Is capable to adjust welding parameters for different materials.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Knows the commonly used welding methods, their use and limitations
Can weld without guidance and knows which welding method to use in different situations.
