Objective

The student is aware of methods of team work. He/she is also aware of special requirements such as machine directives when designing automatic devices. A design project of an automatic device is made during the course including the mechanical part and also the control system. A preliminary risk analysis is also made.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1. The student is aware of special features of design process.
2. The student is able to work as a team member.
3. The student is able to model simple parts.
4. The student can make a simple control program based on the functional description.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

1. The student is able to take into account the safety requirements of machine directives in the design process.
2. The student acts as an active member of the design team.
3. The student can model all the parts of the equipment and can also make some subassemblies.
4. The student is able to write the control software for the equipment and make the specification for control devices.
5. The student is aware of the basic documentation needs.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

1. The student is able to evaluate different solutions for the basic design of the equipment.
2. The student is able to take into consideration the safety requirements of the machine directives and is able to look for different safety solutions.
3. The student is able to work as a team leader.
4. The student is able to model all the parts and the main assembly.
5. The student can make the control program for the whole equipment using modular programming and make the specification for control devices.
6. The student can make the whole documentation of the equipment and use the risk analysis in the design process.
