Objective

After passing the class the student understands the technical drawings and documentation, comprehends the engineering designs and gets overall understanding of machine’s functioning. In addition the student can draw technical pictures both in 3D and 2D. The student is also able to understand the usage of different materials in mechanical engineering applications and to understand the assemblies.

Content

The class contains different drawing techniques, understanding of the technical designs’ markings and the usage of them. In addition learning of how to draw both in 2D and in 3D is essential. Introduction to how to select material for appropriate applications in mechanical engineering, creation of the technical diagrams and getting accustomed to assemblies are in focus, too.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student can recognize 75% of the technical drawing symbols used in actual technical drawing.

The student can by him-/herself draw 60% correctly a technical drawing using standardized drawing symbols including dimensions.

The student can by him-/herself draw 50% correctly a welding/assembly drawing or process scheme using standardized drawing symbols including proper material nominations.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student can recognize 85% of the technical drawing symbols used in actual technical drawing.

The student can by him-/herself draw 75% correctly a technical drawing using standardized drawing symbols including dimensions.

The student can by him-/herself draw 75% correctly a welding/assembly drawing or process scheme using standardized drawing symbols including proper material nominations.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can recognize 90% of the technical drawing symbols used in actual technical drawing.

The student can by him-/herself draw 90% correctly a technical drawing using standardized drawing symbols including dimensions.
The student can by him-/herself draw 90% correctly a welding/assembly drawing or process scheme using standardized drawing symbols including proper material nominations.
