Objective
On completion of the course the student will be able to
- interpret and compose basic documents in his or her field
- apply Finnish language usage recommendations and the standard layout to basic documents in his or her field
- communicate on the web appropriately
- locate and use information in his or her field critically
- report in writing
- act and communicate appropriately in professional contexts
- act goal-orientedly as a group member
- assess and develop his or her communication skills
- communicate appropriately and in a structured way in projects and group communication situations as an expert of his or her field
- apply the principles and textual conventions of Finnish academic communication
- use essential sources of information in his or her field proficiently.

- formal texts, document layout and essential documents, for example job
- applications and business letters
- principals of reporting and report as a genre
- use of Finnish and writing conventions in technical texts
- locating relevant source material and critical use of information sources in the field
- basics of online communication
- basics of group communication skills
- oral communication and interaction: presentation and speaking skills, planning, illustrating and delivering an oral presentation, and persuasive language usage
- basics of academic communication
- communication and interaction in a project: oral project communication and the documents of a project, for example project plan, reports and bulletins
