Objective

After completing the course the student knows the basics of database management process and it’s phases as well as methods and tools. Student is also capable of participating to the design processes of databases and can assess them successfully.

After completing the course the student is capable of assessing the demand, usage, and application of database management system. For this purpose the most general design systems and their practices are being introduced.
The focus of the course is in relational database systems and in both local and distributed applications. In laboratory exercises an incremental database system is being designed and implemented.
Also the practices of using SQL as data design and manipulation language are being carried out in lectures and exercises.

• The differences in usage and operations of OLTP and OLAP systems

• Introduction to ontology
