Objective

During this course, the student will be confronted with important server technologies, theoretically as well as practically. Goal of the subject is to familiarize the student with servers he is using day by day.
• Install, configure and test Linux servers
• Find and solve errors/ problems
• Know protocols and use them
• Analyze installations

Content

- Domain Name System (DNS), Server: bind9 (ISC*)
- Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Server: dhcp3-server (ISC*)
- Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Server Apache Webserver (httpd)
- Common Gateway Interface (CGI), Secure Socket Layer (SSL), Certificates. Additional modules and configurations for the Apache Webserver
- Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) mit Transport Layer Security (TLS), Server: postfix or exim
- Post Office Protocol (POP), Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP), Server: dovecot courier(eventually Mail filter: policyd-weight)
- File Systems
