Objective

After completing the course the student knows parameters on the microwave radio communication and the main units of microwave radio and principles of radio circuits on the microwave band. The student understands antenna significance for radio communication and principles of antenna operations. The student knows the definitions for antenna parameters and the antenna type classifications. The student has adopted widely used wire and aperture antenna types principles for microwave transmission and reception.
-----
After completing the course the student has skills to do calculations for microwave link performance in fixed and land mobile radio systems and in satellite systems. The student is able to explain principles of radio antenna operation and to define radiated field as components and to describe power in radio wave. The student is able to do calculations for antenna coverage based on the antenna parameters and to evaluate antenna effects on communication link implementation. The student has skills to construct the radio link budget for microwave link evaluation.
