Objective

After completing the course, the student has a clear understanding about server fault tolerance and load balancing aspects. The student is able to analyse how the fault tolerance can be improved and how the load balancing issues have to be taken account in server architecture design.

Basic knowledge of operating systems is recommended

Redundancy:
- the student understands what redundancy related to servers is, and is able to plan a server network which is redundant, with help from the instructor;

Load balancing:
- the student understands what load balancing related to servers is, and is able to plan a server network
which is load balancing with help from the instructor;

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Redundancy:
- the student understands what redundancy related to servers is, and is able to plan a server network which is redundant;
- the student shows independent solutions.

Load balancing:
- the student understands what load balancing related to servers is, and is able to plan server network
which is load balancing with help from the instructor;
- the student shows independent solutions.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- the student shows independent solutions and critical evaluation.

Load balancing:
- the student understands what load balancing related to servers is, and is able to plan a server network
which is load balancing with help from the instructor;
