Objective

Students should know the sturucture and operation of SS#7 protocol stack and main messaging signal units. He/she should know also the principles of SS#7 network dimensioning and signaling at packet switched networks.

Students can use SS#7 signaling anaylzer to analyze call establishment and release and related messages.

Content

Structure and function of Common Control Channel Signaling (SS#7) network and protocol stack, SS#7 messages, analysis of SS#7 signaling sequences with a software tool, simple SS#7 network dimensioning exercises. Part of the course
consideres signaling at packet switched networks.
