Prep Course for Professional Swedish 1Laajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

On completion of the course the student will know that nouns and verbs are inflected, and that the order of words in a sentence will affect the meaning of the clause. The student will be able to use personal pronouns and know some of the objective forms of personal pronouns as well as some of the possessive pronouns. The student will be able introduce himself or herself, and talk about his or her studies, family and interests at least in writing. The student will be able to talk about the weather, make appointments, tell the time, date and prices.

Content

Grammar: inflection of nouns, verbs and adjectives, word order, personal, possessive and reflexive pronouns, numerals, adverbs, prepositions

Communication: work-related vocabulary, time-related vocabulary, prices, showing the way, talking about oneself, one’s family and studies

Qualifications

The course is intended for students failed in the entry-level Swedish language test. The purpose is to improve the students’ Swedish language skills, so that they will be able to follow and pass the compulsory Swedish course in their degree programme.
