On completion of the course the student masters the basic concepts of broadband communications and understands the possibilities and limitations of different technologies.

- Understands the main components in optical communication with their characteristics and the used technologies

Fast switcing and routing tecnologies
- Understands the different tecnologies used in packet based networks and the main features of these technologies

Broadband access tecnologies
- Understands the different broadband access technologies and the main features of these technologies

- The student knows the main challanges related to optical transmission
- The student knows the main challanges related to packet switched networks
- The student knows the main challanges related to broadband access technologies
