Objective
Analysis of Measurement Data is a computer-based course to study and analyse great data files of different types efficiently. Laboratory sessions with plenty of practical examples are carried out in small groups. The student has success in advanced mathematical modelling and quality control tasks and can evaluate the reliability of the results critically. In addition, the use of suitable computer programs (Excel, Matlab, SPSS) is encouraged, for it allows the student to concentrate on the interpretation of the analysis.
Content
The nature of statistical variation, Graphical tools for describing statistical properties of measurement data, Computational (mathematical) tools for describing statistical properties of data, Basic concepts of probability, random variables and
their distributions, Measurement uncertainty, Confidence, prediction and tolerance intervals, Statistical tests, Regression analysis and
calibration, Analysis of variance, and analysis of experiments, Use of statistical software.
