Objective

The aim of the course is to extend the component models and electronic circuits introduced on the basic electronics courses and to introduce some essential electronic applications. On completion of the course the student is able to design simple electronic measurement systems or electronic applications according to the given specifications.

- Design of low-power linear and swithed power supplies
- Interface between digital and analog electronics
- Grounding system on printed circuit board
- Basics of noise and interference on electronic systems
- Signal to noise ratio
- Thermal analysis and design in electronics
- Design of small scale embedded systems

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

On completion of the course the student is able to design and analyse simple embedded systems and electronic applications.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

On completion of the course the student is able to do thermal analysis of electric systems and
to design simple linear and swithed power supplies in embedded systems.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

On completion of the course the student is able to design embedded systems and analog circuits according to the given specifications.
