Objective

The student will be able to analyze and design electronic circuits in VHF-UHF frequency band and should understand how system level spesifications effect circuit level performance.

Content

Review of "RF- and Wireless Technology". Resistors, inductors and capacitors in VHF-UHF frequency band, microstrip circuits, RF-power splitting and combining, hybrids, ferrite circulators, helical-, crystal- and SAW-filters. Scattering parameters and their applications. Tranceiver architectures and specifications. Small signal low noise amplifiers, power amplifiers (in GSM, UMTS and WLAN applications), power amplifier linearization techniques. Phase Locked Loops and frequency synthesis, low noise oscillators and mixers. EMC considerations for the design.
