Objective
The student knows the basic concepts in digital technology and its central applications and understands the advantages and disadvantages of digital solutions. S/he is familiar with the central components of combination circuits. S/he is able to analyze simple combination circuits and design them both on paper and using a design software. He knows the numerical systems commonly used in digital technology, representing of numbers in the binary system as well as the central codes and is able to perform addition and subtraction calculations using binary numbers. The student has learned to test and measure basic digital circuits at laboratory level.
Content
Background and general introduction: introduction to digital technology,- applications in digital, technology. Hard core of combinational circuits: switching functions, basic gates, switching algebra and minimization, combinational circuits. Practical implementations: digital micro circuits, graphic symbols of logic circuits, combinational circuit elements. Essence of numbers and other data: binary arithmetics, number and character codes, error detection and correction. Laboratory practicals.
