Objective

After completing the course students are familiar with the for protection and the most common structural solutions in distribution networks and in the protection of different components. Students are familiar with the characteristics, operation and practical applications in the protection of the most common fuses, circuit breakers and relays.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1. Students understand the distribution of thermal and dynamic load capacity.
2. Students know the most common relays as well as their typical use.
3. Students are familiar with the functioning of the most common fuses and are able to choose the appropriate protection for the most common uses.
4. Students are familiar with the operation of the most common circuit breakers and are able to choose the appropriate protection for the most common uses.
5. Students are familiar with the operation of the most common fuses and are able to choose the appropriate protection for the most common uses.
6. Students are familiar with the operation of the most common relays and are able to choose the appropriate protection for the most common uses.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to apply his/her knowledge in practice in order to find functionally reasonable settings for the most common protective relays.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is familiar with the essential principles of the wider functional combination of relays and is able to select the protective equipment in coordination with these principles.
