Introduction to the Technology in HealthcareLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

After completing this course the student has a general understanding of health care technology areas, their importance and special characteristics. The student understands the importance of safety, accuracy, reliability and usability of the healthcare technology.

The student understands the basics of the body's bioelectric phenomena. In addition, the student knows a variety of measurement, analysis and treatment methods. The student is familiar with at least one method in depth. The student is aware of the importance and existence of the standards and directives.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1. The student is able to describe the core elements of health care technology.
2. The student can describe on an elementary level the physiological signals.
3.-5. The student can describe some of the measurements and treatment methods of general health care. She/he is aware of health maintenance methods and tools. In addition, the student is familiar with one topic in greater depth.
6. The student understands the significance of safety and standards in health care.
